My name in Lauren Ehnebuske.

I provide drafting and design services and am actively engaged in re-imagining housing and sustainable lifestyles in Port Townsend.

My master’s thesis used systems thinking and permaculture philosophy to demonstrate how vibrancy could evolve from community and how our built environment can tailor to our needs more holistically. The confluence of architecture, ecology, and human development continues to fascinate me.

I earned my Masters of Architecture from the University of Washington, Seattle where I focused my studies on design theory, pragmatic details, and the intersection of architecture and landscape. I spent one term abroad in Rome, Italy, studying architecture, urban planning, and sketching. Since 2001, large and small firms in Seattle, Portland, and Port Townsend have hired me to be involved with a wide array of residential design, as well as community and commercial buildings. In Seattle I was part of a unique residential rental community doing highly detailed remodel construction with a creative crew and managing the beautiful, below-market-rent apartments, where I am still a trustee.

Concurrent with my career in the built environment, I danced professionally in the United States, France, and Ecuador. I studied dance at The Julliard School and Cornish College of the Arts as a teen, where innumerable hours of practice instilled a discipline and idealism that inevitably inspires my approach to architecture.

The study of anthroposophy, backpacking, and motherhood are also strong influences.

I meet architectural design with the same open wonder, discipline, and commitment I experienced while working with international choreographers.
